So I’ve fact-checked this, and it’s true guys.
Here’s what I suggest people do, if they are upset at this turn of events. Write to TWLOHA yourself, and very respectfully explain that you did not find the videos offensive, and that there are many different kinds of people who suffer from mental illness/have experiences with emotionally/physically abusive situations. If they want to represent all different kinds of people like this, and not just those that are loudest and angriest, they will listen.
This is the text of the email I have sent:
“Hello, I’m a supporter of the You Are Not Alone campaign being conducted by Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins. It’s come to my attention that some people have contacted you guys, complaining about some of the promotional videos Ackles and Collins have made.
I would like to say that I, as someone who has had to deal with stalking in my life, do NOT find these videos to be offensive, belittling, or traumatic in any way. Please remember that many people with mental illness and with these experiences all respond differently, and deal differently with their pain. While some people did not like the videos, many people with mental illness and those that have had stalking experiences appreciated the humor - it made them feel better, it made them feel lighter.
I cannot change how you feel about the videos, but what I can do is strongly encourage that you remember to represent all different kinds of survivors of mental illness and emotional traumas - not just the ones that have the loudest voices. Also be aware that any contact you’ve had with some of the complainees is definitely being shared on the internet, with claims being made that RA is ignoring you or acting shady, despite your equivocating reply. If you do not want them to speak for you guys, it would probably be best to address this publicly in some way so that your official opinion can be quoted without people trying to start rumors about your alleged allies and enemies.”

I know this may piss you off (believe me, I’m shaking right now it pisses me off that bad), but TWLOHA is only responding to what they have been given, and they are not at fault for believing people without understanding the full picture, as its nearly impossible for them to do that without our voices being thrown into the mix.
